With summer around the corner, speed dating is making a comeback. After all, your time is valuable. And Amiccio, a new NYC based startup, believes it should be treated as such.

Amiccio is committed to helping people expand their social circle, and foster in-person connections. One of the many ways they do so is through their weekly speed dating events.

It’s simple really, like dating with musical chairs. There’s no need to fuss about where to go for drinks, or who gets the bill. Ladies will stay in their seats, and after five minutes, men will be asked to rotate to their right. No need to worry about running out of things to talk about, as tonight is all about getting to know people in five minute increments. Rather than go on one date and try out one connection, here all participants have the opportunity to try out ten.

After ten rounds of dates, there are no more rules, and you are free to booze and socialize with everyone from the event. But, Amiccio’s matchmaking doesn’t stop there. Amiccio has attendees fill out a form for each of the dating rounds where one can indicate if there is interest to continue to get to know one another. If there is interest from both parties, the following day an email is sent to both people letting them know of their mutual match!

In my experience, I loved the ambiance of The Malt House on 206 Thompson Street. It showed that Amiccio did their research in picking the right location – just romantic enough for the perfect first date and just casual enough to compliment any attire. The entirety of the event was light-hearted, easy to follow, and such a fun way to spend a Tuesday night. Perhaps the most underrated part of the event was being able to meet other like minded singles in their 20s and 30s. Chatting with the other girls we all agreed, even if this doesn’t end in a love connection, we’ve been able to meet each other and make new friends.
