Few date nights can match the evening of relaxation and romance I had with my lover last week in Williamsburg. After a grueling work week, my partner and I found ourselves searching for bath houses around NYC. We searched Russian bathhouses on the lower east side, to large scale spas in Flushing. We ended up settling at a local spot called Bathhouse, located in the heart of Williamsburg.

As first timers, we purchased a day pass and were given drink tokens upon entry. The luxurious decor and bar patrons in bathing suits made us feel instantly transported to another world. We made our way down to the main portion of the Bathhouse, where we submerged ourselves in warm, hot, and cold baths. Transitioning from the tropical sauna to the steam room and back was a much needed experience for our overworked and tight muscles. We did this for two short hours before taking a break to check out the in-house bar and restaurant.

I used my drink token on a gorgeous glass of dry rose (a perfect and refreshing choice, I might add). My partner used his on a citrusy absinthe cocktail, similar to a gimlet, which was quite tasty as well. With our senses tingling, we made our way to our next location of the evening, Maison Premiere.

The cozy and warm aesthetics of this Williamsburg bar has proven itself as our favorite place for cocktails in the area, promoting an understated yet undeniable feeling of luxury. The taste of their cocktails, plates, and oysters are unlike any that I have tasted in NYC, and provide a quality and experience that feels worthy of the few extra dollars. My personal favorite is the Inverness cocktail, a beautiful blend of absinthe, blackberries, and cream, with a forest of rosemary to garnish. To complete the sensory delights of the evening, we ordered a selection of fresh oysters, beef tartare, and cod brandade. The evening felt like a luxury 5-star experience, all in our local neighborhood.
